“Here’s
looking at you, kid”
The LIS PTA
is proud to be the host of this year’s 10th Annual Spring Fling,
April 24, 2010. For those of you who
are new to the school or haven’t yet been, Spring Fling is the PTA’s largest
fundraiser and the hottest ticket in town.
This being the 10th Annual, the Committee wants to celebrate
big, Casablanca Style. As always, there will be Live Music and
Dancing, a Silent and Live Auction, a 50/50 Raffle, great food, and maybe some
surprises!
The funds
raised from Spring Fling are carefully and thoughtfully spent on what we call
the “extras”. The Committee meets with
the Head Master and Teacher Representatives at the beginning of the year to see
what the school needs and what the teachers “wish” for. Last year, the Committee used the $19,000
raised at Spring Fling to purchase Interactive White Boards for the entire
Primary School as well at the High School Science Department, and with the
proceeds of this year’s event we hope to fill the requests for White Boards for
the entire Upper School.
HOW DO WE RAISE THE MONEY?
LIVE
& SILENT AUCTION
The
majority of the funds raised during Spring Fling come from our Live and Silent
Auction Items that are very generously donated by parents, friends, and
supporters of LIS. We are always
looking for items to offer everyone, and will launch our donation drive next
week. Be sure to check out our
suggestion sheet for some creative ways to contribute.
Auction
items range from vacations that span the world, to local activities, entertainment,
shopping, dining, art, parties, electronics, jewelry, home improvements, et
cetera.
Each year
parents donate items for a Classroom Basket.
The baskets are always so creative and a very popular item in the
auction. Additionally, we have an extremely
talented group of student Artists (led by Mrs. Hoyle and Mrs. Purvis) who
generously donate their beautiful works of art to the auction.
ADVERTISEMENTS
The Spring
Fling Auction Book, a highly coveted publication, is the perfect and affordable
spot to advertise your business or send personal messages/ graduation wishes,
to your kids or friends. Prices for ads range from full page
color $250, full page $200, half page $100 and quarter page $75. Personal
greetings and messages will sell for
$25, and if you would like to add a picture to your message the price is
$50.
SPONSORSHIPS
Inevitably,
there are a lot of expenses, deposits, and other outlays of cash for an event
of this magnitude, and any generous cash donations will be listed in the
auction book under our sponsors.
50/50 RAFFLE
During the
event we hold a 50/50 Raffle. Big
spenders try their luck at winning half the pot and get to “glow” with
flow.
The Spring
Fling Committee is hard at work planning and organizing this year’s event and
