About Us

Lucaya International School (LIS) is an accredited, college preparatory, non-profit, independent, non-sectarian, co-educational day school governed by a Board of Directors. Founded on September 8, 1992, the school is designed to serve the children of the local and international community living on Grand Bahama. All classes are offered in English, with the exception of modern language courses. The educational program is modeled along North American, British, and International Baccalaureate Organization guidelines.

The Lucaya International School Parent Teacher Association (LIS PTA) is a non profit organization whose mission is to promote and organize events to bring the LIS community together and to raise funds for the benefit of the school community. Its  principal operational base is at the school on Chesapeake Drive, Freeport, Bahamas.

LIS is not only a school: it's a strong community of educators, learners, families, volunteers, business partners, and neighbors.  The fundraising events and programs organized by the LIS PTA are vital in fostering this wonderful sense of community. Please, join us!

Our LIS PTA President message

I am proud to serve as the 2010-2012 LIS PTA President, and I am looking forward to being part of an amazing school community! We are fortunate to have an outstanding Board of Directors, Teachers and Staff who foster the development of our children's social and academic skills. The PTA works very hard to help support our school, so that our teacher's and staff may best meet the needs of all our students.

LIS has a strong PTA because of our generous and active teacher and parent community. Many thanks to all who give your time and financial support to help our PTA succeed. Our PTA is thrilled to be a part of providing enriching activities and materials that help develop our children's social and academic skills. Together we can work to further enrich our children’s school.

Please feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail regarding available PTA positions, or to join as a "Co-opt Member".

Sincerely,

    Jennifer M. Wiegand
